Golden Rules For Living
By Miriam Hamilton Keare
1. If you open it, close it.
2. If you turn it on, turn it off.
3. If you unlock it, lock it up.
4. If you break it, admit it.
5. If you can’t fix it, call in someone who can.
6. If you borrow it, return it.
7. If you value it, take care of it.
8. If you make a mess, clean it up.
9. If you move it, put it back.
10. If it belongs to someone else, get permission to use it.
11. If you don’t know how to operate it, leave it alone.
12. If it’s none of your business, don’t ask questions.

Sounds like Miriam Hamilton Keare was a practical matter-of-fact soul. Is one, if she’s still alive. Very simple and practical. I am wondering….how to discern if something is none of our business. Hmmmm, I might be bad at that one. :)
Wow, this is great, la… very much resonates with what I might have put down, had I given it enough thought… Anyone who has ever tried to make lists about things important to them will be able to admire the seeming simplicity of this list. It shows a tremendous capacity for presence and precision. I’m very inspired by this. These actually are rules that very much remind me of a zen-kind-of-way of living me and many around me were inspired by years ago… a leave-no-trace kind of presence in shared rooms and things like that… GREAT reminder, and a beautiful piece of writing. Gotta go and google MHK right away. Thanks for the inspiration, dear one!
